Don't think so Dodger, no evidence of a previous crack however it's a real coincidence that the break was on the exact area that Richmond smoothed (ground slightly) on the outside edge of the gear so that they could etch the build info on it with a power scribe. The problem is that I bought the gear set years ago but just recently got the car running and I'm not looking for warranty assistance, I just don't want to keep repeating the process. I'm getting too old to bench press 125 lbs. over my head.
 
Jimmy, I'm confident in the setup. Had it done by Pyle Brothers in Baytown, Tx and they are the best, most experienced in the area. I also checked the backlash and preload before I put it in the housing.
