Re: Mopar nats

Through late '99 to about 2008, a group of us had a Mopar club locally with the specific goal of getting a group rate and block of rooms at the Best Western (now Days Inn I believe) on Brice Rd, and getting a club area to ourselves in the show field.  We had a cookout in the motel parking lot ourselves on Friday nights.  We accomplished our goals for some years as well as occasional cruises, and even put on three car shows around here for all brands.  Eventually personality clashes among some members caused it to fall apart, but it sure was nice to be able to set up three 10X20 canopies all together and have all our cars parked together, as opposed to trying to get to the participant area early enough to compete for space with all the Chevy and Ford duallies they let in on participant stickers.  Since then my wife and I went over a couple of times in one of the modern Chryslers and found a little space to set up our 12X12 canopy as a base of operations.  I hadn't been in two years but my son and I went over on Friday only (due to him only being able to get Thursday and Friday off) and enjoyed ourselves quite a bit.  We parked his truck in the main gate spectator parking area at about 9AM.  It was just a bit far to carry parts as we bought them, but otherwise that was easy and casual.  After checking in at the motel on Thursday we found a mom and pop pizza restaurant a ways south on Brice Rd that was excellent.  It was in an old gas station building.  We will definitely be going back there.

Right inside the spectator gate we entered there was a restored '62 max wedge car, black.  I took a quick peek at the numbers and was explaining to my son the presence of the proper codes when the owner approached and gave us an interesting exposition and said he is the original owner...I bet that is rare!  No idea if he is a list member.

Hello all,  I used to go to mopar national's every year. I miss going to that event. Everything is pale in comparison to that event. The closest thing we have to that is the Mopars at Big Daddy Don Garlit's Museum down here in Florida. I went to Mega Mopar at West Palm Beach Raceway last year an there wasn't very many cars there, until they move the date from September to December or January to get it out of the rainy season the weather is too unpredictable.
