If it is paint, it was a very good idea. Custom-made trim would be very expensive.

Good idea to put the trim on the cars character line. Too bad the designers at Plymouth didn't think about that!

Someone local was doing similar paint tricks a few years back, there was a full size Blazer running around with early Corvette louvers, and a couple others with painted on trim... really nicely shaded along the body lines, you really had to look twice.
