Re: Carb Question

Nick, I have the later intake, which would use the AFB.  I assumed that an AFB was the correct carb, but you know what they say about those who assume...

Which Poly 4V intake manifold do you have? These 2 photos will show the difference. The early intake used a WCFB, (red manifold), the later 1962 intake used an AFB, feet extended for the mounting base. Adaptor plates are available for mounting any carb. These adapters will also allow you to raise the carb to match venture size and butterfly valve clearance. Try to use a phenolic spacer and not aluminum to dissipate heat from the manifold to the carb.

Subject: Carb Question

I was looking at the 4bbl carbs I have, matching up the intake on my 64 Fury, and came across a few AVS and a couple Thermoquads, neither of which have the same bolt pattern that my Poly intake has.  The bolts on the intake are 4.5x5.5, not quite square, but nothing like the AVS or Thermoquad.

I think I have an intake "modifier" to change the bolt pattern (can't find it right now, but isn't that the way it always is) but wonder what the original 4bbl was for an early Poly with the 4.5x5.5 stud pattern?
