Re: Stroker lit up, but I have issues

Jim, you didn't indicate. Did you have it on the compression stroke?  I would think if it was 180 degree off, you would have a  lot more problems............................MO

OK so here's an update.

Went back to basics tonight just to see if it was something stupid.  In the process, checked the following:

- Removed #1 plug and rotated crank to find TDC
- Removed the cap and validated that the rotor was pointing dead at #1 on the distributor
- Made sure my rotation was tight for RB (counter clockwise)
- Triple checked my ignition wires per firing order 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2, and yes, #1 is on the driver's side

Ugh.  Nothing obvious here.  Started stressing about perhaps not having the timing marks aligned when installing the timing chain, but remembered that when I timed the cam, the 1st check was way off.  The reason for it was my marks were off.  Realigned the marks and the cam timing was spot on.

Went back inside and noodled a bit more.  Found this on the web:

http://moparforums.com/forums/f7/440-timing-problem-12355/

I have an old, stock, nasty distributor sitting in a box in the garage.  I am thinking I will pop it in tomorrow night and see what happens.

Also, here's another thought.  I am using a Chrome box that I've had tucked away for probably 5-6 years.  Could it be a crappy box?  I could always stop at O'Reilly's and buy a cheapie to see where that leads me.

I really don't want to tear it down and check the cam timing again unless I have to so I am trying to rule out the small, stupid stuff.

Your thoughts appreciated...

Jim

P.S. Scott I left you a message earlier.
