Re: 426W Prices: was ex-member Don D.

I do believe that a 440 has a higher market value than a 426W. If I was truly in the market for a 426W, I'd expect to pay around $1,500 for a rebuildable assembly - seen some priced at that value at Carlisle over the last few years. I am concerned that the condition of the 426W that Jason is considering is of an unknown condition, hence the starting value of $1,000.

For the record, the rebuild on my 440 with the addition of Eagle Rods and Icon forged pistons came to $3,500 this spring.

Just gonna throw my two cents in here, even though I haven't read the whole thread.  $1000 for a 426 seems a bit on the cheap side.  my buddy had his 440 rebuilt with new pistons, rings, shaved heads ad a cam I gave him.  That build cost him between $3300 and $3500 up here in Saskatoon Canada.  He also knew the guy a bit who did it so he might have gotten a bit of a deal, I don't know.  I'm also not sure about the job rate comparison from here to the US.  It's our experience, up here anyways, that any running 440 is worth a minimum of $2000, no matter the year.  Again, my opinion from a different part of the world.

for a 65 426W, If you are looking to sell, my opinion it ts worth over $1,000 if it can be salvaged to run another day. Would love to have it but the other 65's I have are sucking all my parts money and more.
