The first model year for the Slant-Six was 1960. If you saw a '59 with a Slant-6, someone swapped it in.

  That thing was as big a boat as my car.  I couldn't believe that they put those little things in that big boat of a car.

The Clark Cortez motor home came with Slant-6 power. So did giant Dodge trucks. And school buses. And (in Canada) C-bodies.
