There is a lot of undercoating and very little room to maneuver, which is why I have been trying to come up with a plan B.

A trick is to heat up the gas pedal studs with a propane torch and then let them cool off before you try to remove the nuts. Spray some lube on the threads on the cooled-off threads before putting a wrench on.  Usually works.
