Re: Straight axle steering

Bet it makes great right hand turns and very little left, the drag link is way too short and probably has the gearbox out of time.  Was it intended to be a vintage oval track car?    Back in the day some people were playing with straight axles thinking they would be more stable.  The frame looks like it was built to take a good hit and way to wide & heavy for drag racing, that accounts for no turning radius, tires too close to frame to steer.   I hate to say it but you might be better off cutting it off and starting from scratch.  Speedway I know sells a nice axle.  I used a A-100 van axle under my gasser back in the day.

Subject: Straight axle steering

I am still trying to get my 62 belvedere ready for the nostalgia track but the steering worries me. Not sure where it came from originally but very poor steering and turning radius.
Everything now done except steering.
If you were doing a complete do over and price was no object , what would you recommend as the very best.
Thanks
