Did you remove the shifter cable from the trans? It's pretty common to get the shifter adjustment out of whack so the neutral safety switch doesn't work right. To get it started you can take it out of park, depress the reverse button, out it back in neutral and reset the park lever. Makes for a nice anti theft device.

Its back together and the lever goes up to about an 1/8 or so to the cover top. Is this far enough? Do I need to take it out and reajust it? Has anyone had this problem before?
