RE: ZDDP Additives

Received the response below when asking Schneider cams if their ZDDP additive was needed, when running Brad Penn break-in oil than already contains 1000ppm ZDDP.  (They endorse Brad Penn oil on their web site).

Top link in this search is a Brad Penn document stating the ZDDP level in their break-in oil:

This page talks about the use of too much ZDDP during break-in:

Subject: Break-in

Hello,

I received your formula 1 and 2 with my Poly 256F camshaft purchased thru Gary Pavlovich.  I plan to use Brad Penn 30W break-in oil for the initial start up, then the Brad Penn 10W/30 oil from then on.

Question is - do you want me to use your formula 2 even when using Brad Penn break-in oil?  Their description makes it sound like their 1020ppm ZDDP is already ideal.

Stock rebuilt 318 Poly with the addition of your cam.

Thanks,

Ric
