Thanks Ray. I can't find the exact source right away, but "Mitsubishi Motors destroyed all the old records and parts stocks when they purchased Chrysler of Australia in 1980" is close. I agree that Hemi pushrod engines would have been out of Mitsubishi's comfort zone back then. Mitsubishi destroyed the stuff not out of malice but short-sighted economic calculations. 

I do recall reading that at some time after 1979 /1980 there was a group of Mopar enthusiasts who looked into making the Hemi 6 again, but gave up when they learned the Hemi 6 tooling / casting had been destroyed by Mitsubishi.
