I have heard that detergent oil will make
foam. Not a problem with sump oil pick-up and oil pump, but possible with
a splash system?.........................MO

My last compressor lasted 40 years (still running) and it used 30W
nondetergent oil. When you think about it detergents were added to motor oil
because of combustion by-products getting into the crankcase and since
compressing air is a clean operation why should you need detergent oil in the
crankcase?
