I bought compressor oil at tractor supply by ingersol rand it was 16 bucks a quart I just replaced my compressor unit on my tank due to a bearing failure and I ran 30 weight motor oil in it and don't know if that's what did it or what .it was 10 years old and for the last few years sounded like it was gonna fly apart..i figured no more than I change my oil in it I paid the 16 bucks a quart for all temperature compressor oil and it took almost 2 quarts to fill my new v twin pump..it is a harbor freight unit and I mounted it to my Campbell haausfield tank that my old unit used to sit on I have painted a bunch of cars and I guess for 10 years on one oil change I got my moneys worth out of my old unit

Another vote for non-detergent 30W which my manual calls for - Valvoline still makes it. I change mine every 5 years - holds 3 qrts - I hang a maintenance placard reminder on the motor. Bought it new over 30 years ago - hobby use but has painted quite a few cars. 5hp Automan.
