Problem is this,do some of the alley heads work,YES,but the port volume is to big to start with and you land up making the problem worse and creating a even lower carb signal under the carb.Yes the heads pull great at the upper numbers as long as it,s a big cube motor,500+ cubes,but on a street 440,with not that big of a cam(550) and under,and no intention of going over 6000rpm all the time,it,s money down the drain.You have to look at a stock or super stock drag motor and see how they make big power from the OEM parts and some after market parts and they run in mid tens and in the nine,s and 8 second range to truly see what works in a big block or small block

Just saw a comment on porting a set of 452 cast iron heads. If you want a set of performance heads, it seems to me that, from a financial point, you are better off buying aftermarket aluminum heads. They flow as good out of the box as many ported heads. Porting cost a lot if you hire it out.
