The cheapest way money-wise is to have another look at the existing brakes to be sure all is up to specs. As Herb noted, check for rust / binding. Have a friend along to keep a neutral perspective when inspecting. :) Here are a couple links for reference. http://www.imperialclub.com/Repair/Lit/Master/161/Page00.htm http://books.google.com/books?id=o9sDAAAAMBAJ&pg=RA1-PA150&#v=onepage&q&f=false The next less costly way is perhaps to switch to Bendix style brakes. http://chrysler300clubinc.com/project300f.pdf gives the idea. The disc swap will require more coins. The AAJ kit was already mentioned. Thanks, Gary H. > -------Original Message------- > Ok sorry to wade in late in the game ,but, I have a 62 newport and have totally redone the entire brake system and it sucks giant dog terds!!! One minute is stops on a dime the next you best have both hands on the wheel and be ready for anything yet you can lock them up but first it pulls the the left then the right and it’s a really religious experience every time you hit the brakes. ( you are bound to same something some times the kids have to cover their ears) > So from a tight fisted skin flints perspective money wise , what can I do to convert to disc? Cheaply, again low cost is of prime importance. I have no trouble using junk yard parts to pull this off yes id use new calipers and rotors and bearings but what do I use as the donor ????? > jason -- -- -- Please address private email -- email of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
