Re: RE: headers

well didnt say I believed it about the hp exhaust manifolds flowing as well.. but I do believe that with a good size pipe, cross over and flowmaster the loss of hp is minimal when you think about tune ups and wires burning from touching the headers.. I had a super bird and daytona both.. been screwed by insurance companies in the past.  they have loop holes galor..  I believe better to drive a nice lookin drivin car than to have to work on them these days... lol dont need the high dollar stuff or the extreme hp.. not like the old days when you could run the torino or she-velle and get buy with it on the street..  ovet the road driver here and cant afford a ticket..

Ya, the comment about HP manifolds flowing as good as headers , was a big claim in front of thousands of TV viewers.  I wonder what he was thinking?  IMO headers WILL improve performance, if  it is worth that much to you. .....................................MO

yeah that mopar show that is on tv.  think it is graveyard cars or something like that.. (beautiful cars but to much horse play and not enough about the cars)  anyway they said tests have proven that the hp exhaust manifolds are proved to flow as well as headers.. I have one plug on my 440 I cant get to with the headers and I dont plan to keep them.. I guess I need to cut a wrench or something to get to it.. some I have to get from top. Others I have to have it on the lift but that one has kicked my rear..  I would be tickled to use center dump if I didnt have the hps instead of headers.. I dont think you gain enough for the headache... again my 2 cents...

I agree Tom, I don't feel the need to have headers to have a "real" performance car. IIMO there are so many up sides to good cast iron exhaust manifolds verses the down side of headers . I don't have a very  high HP 440 , so I am using 68-69 HP exh.  Manifolds,   2 1/2" exhaust pipes into Flowemaster super 44's, and &  2 1/4 " tailpipes. ....................................MO

Sometime lower performace isnt as impoortant as ease of working on them.. I have headers on my 440 coronet and next time I need a exhaust its being switched to hp exhaust manifolds just like my 426 wedge coronet..lol   center dump exhaust manifold would be my choice no doubt if it were mine... just my two cents...lol
