 Thanks Rich, I think you got it right, will get a timing tape, realign tape to TDC  and use the stock pointer. Nico

I then purchased a later model timing cover with the timing marks cast into the driver's side of the cover but the fit is terrible and will force me to elongate some of the bolt holes to get it to work and I really don't want to use the 50 yr old stock balancer.
