RE: Priming the oil



Speaking of oil pressure – It must take a special socket for the OEM idiot light sender unit?  Nothing I have fits it.....

Yes-it won’t spray but will leak and run over the lip onto your headers and/or the floor!  Make sure you also rotate the engine so that the oil gallery holes in the cam line up to feed one head and then the other head…

When using a hex rod to prime a stock oil pump on a fresh engine – 318 Poly - will it spray all over the place with the valve covers off?  Just wondering so I don’t make a huge mess – but would like to see what is happening........

 

Plan is to do that before I even put the engine in the car, then put in the oil pump drive shaft and distributor while the engine is still on the stand.

 

I am saving the torque (135 ft lb) of the dampner pulley bolt until it’s in the car and bolted to the tranny.
