RE: The Poly has landed

Speaking of Mr Gasket............  I ended up “restoring” my dipstick and tube, after 2 failed attempts with aftermarket tubes.

Milidon dipstick 22060 – supposed to fit Mopar small block, center sump pans.  Maybe but not a Poly – dipstick 2” too short and tube .010 too large diameter.  Plus you have to make your own full marks on a small round dipstick – did not like that either.

Mr Gasket chrome dipstick 6923 (Spectre 5721 interchanges) supposed to fit.  Mr Gasket was too long a handle for hood clearance and straight – nice heavy gage tube.  It did fit the hole in the block better.  I was able to put the 2 bends in it to match close with a tubing bender, and cut down to length.  So one could use the tube at least in  a pinch.

Anyone know Mopar part numbers for available dipsticks?  I considered P4349628 but this review makes it sound like it does not fit our blocks either:

Does that work with an electric choke Eddy?

Looking good!

By the way...I picked up a 2" Summit (K&N) reusable air filter with a drop base that fits under the hood perfectly.

Took all of 15 mins last night – literally while heating up coals for a BBQ – to lower the Poly back in place and snug up to the tranny.  Then after dinner, it seemed like an eternity to weasel the motor mounts into place.  What a funky design.  So much for leaving the tranny in to make it easier, LOL.

If you look close at the rear pic – you can see the 1 3/8” dia motorcycle oil pressure gage Tee’d in with the idiot light sender.  So I can read the actual oil pressure at start up from the driver’s side.  (Mid-USA #88014 oil filled gauge).
