Re: TTI Headers & Trans Lines

Back when I bent my cooler lines through my TTI headers, they had two levels of quality, and there was little difference in pricing.  The bad part is the counter peoples never brought it to my attention, I was back looking for something else and found the two grades myself.  I asked him why he didn't tell me, and he said no one wants to spend the extra money for it so we don't sell it.  WOW!  The cheep stuff was from China and it sucked trying to get it to bend properly with out kinking.  The other stuff was US made and bent noticeably easier!   It's messy but use silicone spray or a lube of your choice on the tube & dies while bending, it will make life a little more bearable.  To Me and that's just Me, hard line looks a lot more professional like Ma MoPar intended.  I bent my feed & return fuel lines also using the original as a pattern.  The hose route looks like an in a hurry after thought just to make it work and left as an unfinished project.  I have been asked why I took all that time, no one will see it anyway,  I will know it!  And people with a good eye will remark when looking at the bottom side.

After looking at prices of braided line, I'm back to hard line again. It's just too expensive.

I ran black Startlite hoses up the corner of the firewall, under the master cylinder, and across the inner fenderwell to a remote filter mounted to the left inside of the radiator brace. Looks pretty tight when matched with the fuel lines on the right side. But it's my car, so I am a little partial. :-)

I've got a call into one of my pit crew that got it for me to be sure. I think it was Russell Pro Classic Hose which is a nylon, not steel braid. It's soft very flexible and keep the temp down. Again I like the idea of being able to use an external changeable filter. This link may help.

Great idea! I like your trans end fitting. Not usually a fan of braided lines, etc but I'm crying "uncle"! I just want to get this $#@&ing thing on the road and this would save untold time and frustration bending/re-bending/re-re-bending hard lines. Got a suggestion for a source? I have no idea where to start other than Summit/Jegs.

Bill,
I got rid of my old hard lines, replaced them with a flexible line that uses a cover for added heat protection. The lines follow the frame rail well away from the headers. It also allowed me to use and additional external inline filter. The flex lines can be connected to your radiator of a separate tranny cooler which I use.

Anyone that's put TTI headers on a 65 Peabody have to majorly modify their transmission cooling lines? As I went to bolt mine on today I discovered they laid directly on the headers. Just another thing on this project that is making it take forever.
