RE: Welcome new member 1964 Plymouth Belvedere

Dan,

Yup thanks for the input....you are so correct about painting GM engine compartments semi-gloss black.......lol. I am looking forward to this build.....makes me giddy....lol. I remember seeing pictures of the 64 Plymouth and Dodges in HRM (1964 to 1979) on the drag strips in the early 60's thru 70's. Before pro street came along....I will be shooting for this type (mid to late 60's to mid 70's build). This is the style I grew up lusting at as a kid....
Thanks,
Ken

Welcome Ken, Since you've been restoring GMs the first thing to remember is don't paint the engine compartment black. Oops! Looks like somebody already did that. LOL Good luck with the restoration, I've always been a big fan of the 64 hardtops too.

Welcome to Mopars and to the 1962 to 1965 Mopar Mail List Clubhouse to Ken.

Below is his introduction.

See http://1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/images/crumley64.jpg for pictures of his Plymouth. :)

Thanks,
Gary H.
=========

I have recently purchased a 1964 Plymouth Belvedere 2 door. See attached pictures. This is my 1st Plymouth. I have always loved the body lines of the 64 Plymouth and Dodges. Especially the hardtops. The Belvedere was listed locally, the previous owner and I came to terms on a selling price and now it is mine. It is in need of a total restoration. I have restored other brands of automobiles (mostly GM stuff) but not a Mopar. The Belvedere will require floor boards, trunk, both sides of the cowl area, trunk extension and both quarter panels replacement. My current plans (subject to change) is to make it into a mid60's to early 70's street-able SS drag car. I am a pipefitter/ welder by trade, and pretty handy welding and fabricating things, but there will be many questions that I will be needing advise on. I feel it would be beneficial to make connections with other likeminded Mopar restorers that have been there and done that.
