RE: Water pump/fan shroud



You guys convinced me to change it. Ordered a new one last night, will be in today. Remove the old one. Everything is prep for the new one. I hope that was the clunking noise I heard. Everything I read say it can be a grinding noise. Oh well. I see tonight. Does anyone rebuild water pump? John Wask..

Big block water pumps are a piece of cake alright,,, but not on the highway when it's 95 outside and 250 degrees under the hood.  I'd change it now.   Silly things like broken bolts can make that emergency job a real bitch.  (from the been there done that file)

Generally, there was a factory fan shroud if the car was a factory air conditioned vehicle.
