Re: Poly Stroker Update

Looking for some input and not trying to hijack the post but, I have a 318 poly head, original to the car, in my 64 belvedere and was wondering what my options (modification) are for using the poly head engine or would I be better off going with a later model 440?

Congrats Bill – it’s been a little work – but you have to love the semi-hemi.  Did you end up working out the mechanical kick-down linkage?

Sure liking my Poly since the rebuild – 600 miles on her now – Poly manifold working great.  Next installed Wilwood discs up front then realized the rear brakes had a grabbing squeak – had the drums turned – now she’s just as smooth stopping as going......

So the engine is in and everything has been installed or sorted out except for a rattling trans dust shield (bottom bolts are stripped and need helicoils) and changing my 3.23's out for 3.55's.

Been taking it out for some short runs with easy driving to make sure everything is tight w/ no leaks , etc and all seems good ( knock on wood).

Last night I took my neighbor out for a ride and decided to blast it...HOLY $#!T...this thing flies!!! It broke my 275/60's loose immediately then caught and took off...pulling insanely hard.

The 3,500 stall is definitely a whole different animal to drive but bottom line is the package performs!
