Re: slant six trannies

sounnds like a rebuilld would be the easiest solution. the 1965 were unique in two ways, the u-joint set up switched from ball and trunnion, and secondly, even though the pushbuttons were gone in 1965,the trannies themselves  werent, so they had a way of using mechanical linkage which actuated the cable valve body. I remember this from my 65 cuda and 65 coronet. I just hate to spend the dough on rebuilding this slant 6 tranny when a v8 heart transplant is right around the corner.. anyway I will know more when i go see it in the flesh friday nite. might turn out to be not such a good deal anyway.

Very nice Slant Sixes in the pics Rich.  It is refreshing to see some “different” powerplants and the only complaint I have heard about Slant Six motors is the owner wants it to break so he can install a V8; but they never break!  A testimony to their stoutness – and they can make big power.  Don Dulmage is running a Slant Six in his home-built Senior Dragster class and whipping Big Blocks with it.

Yes that was my favorite car of the show. The engine had dual Weber carbs. I got a picture of the engine but not the car. Also a 73 with a Clifford set up.

There was a cool 66 Dart at the local Mopar show last weekend with a tricked out slant 6.  I didn't get any pictures of it but maybe Rich did.  If so it could serve as inspiration for a new project.

Hi all, remember me. I am trapped in "no-mopar" land, trying to find my way back. Anyhoo, I found a 65 dart 2dr hdtp slant six car that runs for 1200 bucks with a good title, and not in too bad of shape really. But the 904  tranny is bad. My question is  does the slant six have  the same bolt pattern as a LA block or is it unique. If its unique I am up the creek.
