Re: Poly heads page

Back in 2003 at a car show a well dressed tall man was looking my 63 Ply over. I opened the door and said have a seat, he sat in the car for a few moments and said to me this brings back many memories. When he got out the car he asked me my name and said I thank you, my name is Jim Thornton.

I had a chance of a lifetime to meet the Ramchargers last year while Roland and my wife and I were at a local Carlisle restaurant eating, spent close to an hour discussing the poly design. I learned a lot first hand from Mike Buckle. He said they planed on doing more with the poly then the Max Wedges came along and then the Hemi and the poly was lost and left as a power plant for family cars and trucks. He told me I came along 50 years too late, although they were impressed with the new intake and the cylinder head numbers we were getting.

Bruce,

That would have been quite an engine to develop but it never went anywhere. But look at what GM did with there canted valve 396, in some small way it did continue on. Thanks to you as an builder and others like Bill R., Gary P. & Roland O. keeping the Poly alive with new ideas.

Speaking of the poly heads, why didn't Chrysler use this design on bigger engines?  Just something I've been wondering for a while now.

Hello all,

As a heads up: on 5-23-2016 I added a page on the 62-65 site about Poly heads, as described by 62-65 List member Bruce Toth.

http://1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/poly-318-head-work-toth-performance.html

Mopar Poly 318 head work ... Bruce writes from Toth Performance: A little update for all you Mopar Poly faithful, it has been a little over two years since Roland ...

Thanks,

Gary H.
