Cool story Paul; nice testimony to the Mopar “underdog” whipping the “Chevy boys.”
Reminds me of a story about a ported Poly 318 cast iron 4bbl. intake and HUGE STX-18 solid Racer Brown Poly cam combo that a circle track racer named Al Stegburg used in his Mopar circle track car back who-knows-when...story goes that he was “very competitive” and winning; used to shift at high rpms...

I don't hang around the circle tracks but the last time I did not one Mopar to be seen.  On a side note, when I bought my 63 I got a parts car with it.  After taking what I needed I gave the parts car to a guy who races Mopars on the circle tracks.  When I asked him how he did he said, "Well if they don't water the track too much we can usually get those Chevy boys".
