Neal, I used RTV Black the 1st time and it leaked.  A lot.  Pulled it out, cleaned it, and tried again with RTV Ultra Gray and no issues since.  Could be a number of other factors but just thought I would share.  BTW I am using the Moroso dipstick.

I do worry about metal chips getting down in  the pan though. I have another laying around from my  old blown up 273 so I will use that. Think I will try some black rtv to hold it in. And then I am going to actually check the new stick against the factory spec oil capacity and recalibrate dipstick if necessary.
