RE: cooling system questions, what are u guys using

Can’t guarantee it is same as factory routing..........  I had a picture of the engine as received with Grandpa’s wooden clothes pin on #1 wire and everything – also had a picture of an unmolested original survivor Poly - lost both in a computer upgrade.  What I have is the water pump connection going to the closest to the drivers side connection.  But I get no heat from the heater – so something is amiss.  Even though everything else seems to work – even that neato air deflector action – still rotates down on the original vacuum hoses.....

One thing I did on that side to clean it up a little – routed the pressure PS line under the battery......

Ricky,

Do you have a photo of the left side of your engine. I'd like to see your heater hose routing to the firewall tubes.

What my ’62 Poly runs up here north of you in Washington:

Stant lever release #10239.  Stant recommends 13 psi – look up your app here – click on the line to see a picture of the cap:

http://partcat.com/stant

Flow-Kooler water pump + 180 degree Robert-Shaw thermostat.  Flow-Kooler recommends Robert-Shaw thermostats:

https://www.flowkoolerwaterpumps.com/store/Thermostats/c22/index.html

Prestone extended life 5yr – should be able to go the 5 years – car sees a couple thousand miles a year if that...........

Radiator:  “Desert Cooler” aluminum 2 rows 1” tubes 14-16 fins per inch   (Classic Industries MB2352A – US Radiator AL035037ANDZ)

Aftermarket over-flow tank.

Shroud would be a good idea, have not worked that up yet............

You coming to Sunbust on August 21st Niel?

as to the cap he actually said 10 (OR) 12. he said 16 was too high on a recore with 50 year old tanks.

10 is too low. Use a partial-pressure cap. 13 at least.

180 is what the Mopar engineers called for back in the mid 1960s. Stant is an old brand. I don't know if it is still good (made in China?).

The traditional green 50-50 coolant mix still works. Just don't leave it in there forever.

There are some links on the Tech page. Search for "Chrysler Cooling Systems".
