I cut two plates, approx. .030” thick, from a sheet of steel that you may obtain at your local hardware/Lowes/Home Depot.  Place them against the head (you may use some hi-temp RTV to tack them in place if you like) then lay the non-metal 318 Poly left/right intake gaskets over them and seal your manifold.
I have the non-metal gaskets if you need a pair.

On all my personal engines and engine builds I always block the heat crossover passage to prevent superheating the plenum which causes cracks over time in cast iron manifolds and can pose the same problem in aluminum intakes.  Second reason is to prevent superheating the plenum to increase power – factory designed this for easy startup in cold weather.  Our winter temps are teens, twenties and thirties and I never run a choke and always block the heat crossover; no issues at all in any of my engines and one has been performing admirably for thirty years.

What are u guys doing with heat crossover, blocked or open? Moderate winters where i live, typically 30s or 40s at worst, rarely below 30. Just wondering before I swap manifold to  eddy performer.
