Michael Harding answers Poly motor mount question

Straight from Michael Harding himself….

Hi Roland-

Haha… blaming me?? What did I do?  Yes, I have the original K-member in the car, I only used the QA1 control arms. The 66- K-member will set the engine back about 2 inches, and they’ll have to notch the mounts or make something custom. People have used the later K-member for better weight distribution, but many say it’s a bit of a pain because everything doesn’t line up perfectly.

By the way, the next upgrade will be a full coilover suspension from Control Freak Suspensions, where I’ll replace the K-member and the steering box altogether.  And you might particularly like this: Since I’m entered into the Optima Challenge with my Belvedere this October, I believe I will be the first person ever to enter the Optima Series with a Poly 318.

Hope you are doing well….

-Michael

Michael- Everybody is blaming you for this confusion… Original post: I have fitted a QA-1 tubular K member into my 63 Dodge Wagon.  It is intended for a 66 and up V8 so the motor mounts do not line up on my 318 Poly.  Before I start fabricating adapters, does anyone know a combination of mounts and brackets that might work for this combination?  Thanks!

Thanks for all the feedback.  Looks like Mike Harding stayed with his original K member.  Hope I don't end up wishing i had!

Help them out on what you really have in the car, and/or your recommendations!…

Best!  Roland

(btw-great story on the Hemi Under Glass Roll over Beethoven with Jay Leno in the current issue of Chrysler Power!!!)…

Michael has many variations. Did you check his latest? I thought he had completely replaced the K member in latest batch of changes. He did the steering box upgrade I know. Borgeson?
