Sounds like the pushrod from the brake pedal to the power assist is to short. Some are adjustable, or you could just get a longer push rod

I just converted to power brakes from manual.  Now, the brake light switch is too short and the brake lights are on all the time.  The switch is threaded out as far as possible, but still about 1.5" too short.  Has anyone done this conversion and if so, what brake switch do I need? 
BTW, I converted from disc/drum to disc/disc with a brand new 8 3/4 rear end, 3.23 gears, Eaton Tru Trac.  No more tapered axles!
