RE: ceramic coating of headers

In 1995 we worked with TTI to develop a small block header set that would stay ‘in chassis’ and not get crushed by every McDonalds speed bump like hookers and Hedman… we shared technology with Thorley as we were all pretty close friends back the… The coating is applied by the same plant for almost ALL the header manufacturers in LA and our experience over the last 20 years is that unless you scratch it or burn it off with a lean startup, the stuff works awesome!

The advantage of our (TTI) headers is that it’s a step header-1 5/8 to 1 ¾ ‘step’… serious performance and fitment advantages…

Dougs  are actually a division or Pertronix-originally Crane Cams…  Years ago when Doug and his wife Betty split up, Betty kept the Thorley name and Doug kept his… He began building headers ‘again’ but startup (Betty had the plant and all equipment) was overwhelming to be sure…  Hope that helps!!!  Matter of fact, when CPPA started building the Big Block A Body headers 1986, Doug coached us on ‘process’…

Subject: ceramic coating of headers

Since my 340 is being rebuilt and I am detailing and rewiring engine compartment,  I have decided to step up and buy a nice set of headers for the first time in my life.Looking at some ceramic coated ones from Dougs. They will bust my wallet, but, oh well My question is : Does this coating last or does it just stall off the inevitable?
