Re: 3D-printed car parts

I have made interior light lenses and other body parts both in metal and plastic at company in New Hampshire called Váupell rapid prototyping with success.
They can also provide rubber  transfer molding ,metal castings from samples and 3-D printing in metal or plastic.
The problem with 3-D printing is that you need a cad file of the part. You can do this by tracing the part with a laser but it becomes expensive.

I'm in need of a 62 Plymouth radio grill if somebody wants to share the costs?

Wonder if they can print translucent park/tail light lenses.  They sure could make ’62-’65 radio speaker grills..........

I did mold my own rubber bumpers for the folding rear seat in my wagon.

Yes this may be the way of the future. I've already had several parts made for a model ship that I'm building. It looks like the only way for me to go make the rocker panel molding clips for the '63 Sport Fury rocker panel moldings since I can't find them anywhere after several years of searching.

This article is about 3D-printed car parts in manufacturing, but it is not a stretch to think about the ability of future 3D printers to make new parts for older cars too, like 1962 to 1965 Mopars. Surrogate NOS stock, so to speak.
