RE: Distributor Cap

I have “barrowed” a cap off an early 90s 318 pickup  when at the track and my 440 cap split in half  ran a 13.6 with the engine running on half the distributer. Sputtered and backfired like mad.  Hahahaha  buddy was there with his truck my other mechanic buddy looked at me and looked back  we both turned to the 3rd guy grinning like a couple of idiots and he knew we was up to something.     He almost was crying beggin us not to take his dist. Cap.   But swiped his cap and installed on my 440 stock distributer just fine finished the night out then loaded the car on the trailer then yanked the cap and put back on the truck he went his merry way and we went ours .

Long story short.  I have done it with factory distributers.  Not in theory,  I have done it.  probably was wrong but I didn’t know any better.

To All my fellow Mopar fanatics:

A question regarding distributor caps for our typical, single point distributors.

Aren't all the caps regardless of engine family - "A", "LA", "B", "RB" interchangeable?? I know the distributors are different, but I'm just asking about the caps. Thanks in advance for your comments.
