Paul,The tie rod ends are threaded to allow turning the sleeve to shorten or lengthen the distance between the rod ends to adjust toe in alignment. If both ends had the same thread the sleeve would merely move side to side, effecting no change in toe in. The assembly (2 rod ends and sleeve) will work on either side but surely came from the factory with the left hand threaded end as inner or outer position.
