Flooded front car, 2 x 4 Carter AFBs

Started my 361 with the in line carter AFBs this morning
It started but only ran on a few cylinders, checked under the hood.
The front Carb was leaking from the gaskets badly, the first 2 spark plugs were wet
Assuming I have a stuck float, going to pull the carb top.
The car was sitting for about three weeks without starting.
Is there anything I can do to prevent this happening every time if it sits for a while
Mark
