Holley folley

Made several changes in my 4250 -- double pump-- mechanical secondaries,  and got it more tailored to Brutus. Running pretty well. I thought I would adjust the bowl floats as I knew they were set fairly low.  Also set the idle mixture screws.  When I started the engine, I could barely keep it running.  Gas running out all over the intake and ruining the paint.  Coil in the way to make taking off the front bowl difficult. , Also hard line gas line to both bowls  that has to be taken off.  Front bowl off, took the float apart.  no gas inside of float, needle and seat should be shutting off the gas.  No problem I could find.  A friend watched as I started the engine and it ran fine for a few seconds and then gas came pouring out the bowl vent.  Took all apart again , it HAS to be in the needle and seat area. . Cracked bowl somewhere?. We hooked up a rubber hose to the gas inlet and blew through it. There was a slight leak somewhere.  The rubbber "o" ring looked ok. on the needle seat assembly.  We tried some high flow, easy to adjust N.S. assembly I had, but the o rings were missing.  So we scrounged up a o ring , not quite the right width. Bingo ! , that fixed the problem.
Then all the problems became clear that it was indeed the old o ring. It  had gotten hard and when I adjusted the float , it no longer kept the gas from leaking by. .  I  have never had that problem before in all those years, bet I never forget it ! ..........................MO
