David,

I am sure the "experts" on disasters as you are experiencing will have proper means of securing your property before evacuation. That being said, it is wise to disconnect battery "live" power in your vehicle (I would remove the battery and separate it far from your vehicle or spillage, cap the exhaust/tail pipes, oil filler cap, trans & oil fill dipstick, breathers, and seal the carb throat to prevent water intrusion. If you have time, make sure all your door gaskets & seals (windows up obviously) are tight or add some visqueen/plastic trash sacks inbetween the lower door seals to help "tighten" the seal from water intrusion.
