Re: Insurance Claim Help Wanted

I told here Kelly Blue Book was over 50% higher than their offer and she said they don't use KBB. I looked into the comparables they used and I know one of them was a rust bucket and I suspect the others were of low quality, also. She turned a deaf ear to that argument.

I did pull up a half dozen comparables of my own that back up my purchase price.  Haven't passed that on, yet. But, might send them with the Attorney's letter.

They did say (or, rather mumbled with some qualifiers) they'd cover sales tax but the rest of the purchase cost, extras, and and most of the money I spent getting it to the point I could get a tag on it didn't matter.

I guess I wandered too far off topic now so I'll stop. Still, I'll take any input you folks can give me.

Bummer. Hope you are okay physically Don.

A guy I know had something similar with a 1980s Dodge Rampage that was updated to all Shelby mechanicals and
interior. It got hit parked in the street in front of his house about 10 years ago. The insurance company totaled it as
they saw it as just an old vehicle. He went back and forth and had to show market value of similar vehicles. I don't
recall the exact result but generally they did not care about any upgrades he made or tax title etc. More in tune to what
value places like Kelley Blue Book and  Edmunds put on the vehicle. For example, Kelly lists $6900 as top range for a
2006 Durango. Also, if you know a person that works at a car dealership, see if they can give you a value of the pre-
wrecked Durango or even a trade in value. Something to use a counter argument. My 2 cents FWIW.
