Thanks Darwin. Sort of. The detail about the process is familiar but the web pages and contacts listed there are 
obsolete.

The details on the maxwedge.com link to Chrysler LLC and Corporate Historical Collection, not FCA, and the the 
"Chrysler Historical website" link there  is not working.

The mmcdetroit.com/ refers to Chrysler Group LLC - Historical Services, not FCA.

So, I don't know the status of the "Historical Services" group under FCA. The FCA website
https://www.fcagroup.com/en-US/Pages/home.aspx
has a  search box that provides no returns that help or indicate they still support build record decoding that I can find.
