Re: 62 Heater Hose Routing ,No Heat

This is what I have on my 65 bell non a/c car with 440. These hoses are almost right behind the left drivers valve cover. The higher hose closest to the mastercylinder is hooked up to the port in front on engine closes to the waterpump. The lower hose is going to the port towards the alternator. My mecanical temp gauge is closes to the thermostat. Thats a non a/c car the heater control valve is in the car coming off one side of the heater core. Now on a/c car there is just 2 tubes coming out lower center of the firewall towards the bellhousing. These cars do require a heater control valve if you dont want heat in the summertime, it will keep flowing if no valve is there. I am not sure if the a/c cars had one or not. If they dont you can put one on if you like. It sounds like you may have a air lock in the system. Also with my car the cable dont work the valve correctly. Something changed when it was rebuilt. The cable didnt line up the same so you would not get full hot it was just warm. Hope this helps.

What year and model MoPar is it? Is the heaticontrol valve thee original Ranco or an aftermarket one?

Aftermarket units do not shut the water flow off and the capilary tube is just for looks.
Now as far as hose routing the heater core has 1 size and the control valve has the other.

That should explain the flow direction.

If 1 hose is hot and the other is cool the control valve is slightly closed.

Check it out.

Best if Luck

I am not getting any temperature out of my heater.
The heater control valve was rebuilt and the cable is moving the the Control valve. The hose on the left indicated with the screwdriver it’s getting hot when the car is running, the one on the right is just warm.
Can anybody tell me if these hoses are routed correctly?
I am hoping I don’t have to pull The control Valve under the dash
Any ideas
