Re: Welcome new member / 1965 Sport Futy 'vert

Doug --
By the fall of 1964, the '60 Fury with the cross-ram SonoRamic Commando engine that I had began to show signs of the abuse I had been giving it for several years, so I decided it was time for a trade.  I special ordered a Medium Red Metallic '65 Sport Fury that is the virtual twin to the one I have now: 426-S, 4-speed, no PS or AC, and even a radio-delete.  The one I have now has the black vinyl top, that dumb console-mounted tach (I put a Sun on the steering column pack then), and bumper guards.  It was a great car and I was fortunate indeed to find its twin a few years ago.  The only thing is that over the years I've become spoiled by PS and forgot how hard it is to steer and parallel park those big old MOPARs without the assist.

That's the first car I drove (legally) on the highway.  My dad had one in a dark red.  My brother had a 66 at the same time.  Had a lot of fun in both of those cars.
They were 383 cars.   Had a girl friend whose dad had a VIP 65.  That was an awesome car....   All I need is a big building and lots of money.....

It's a great car.  I currently have the hardtop edition with the 426-S/4-speed which is the virtual twin to the one I had back in 1964-1967 (Medium Red Metallic exterior and interior), so I'm trying to return to the days of my misspent youth.  Send me an e-mail and we can compare notes (sonoramic60@xxxxxxx).

... I have always loved these cars and currently wheel a 1965 Sport Fury convertible with a 4 speed. I have owned it for 18 years. Trust me....it needs a lot of work but still gets a lot of attention. Thanks for the awesome club.....Rian G., / Aston Pennsylvania..
