Re: Shim motor mounts or notch K-Member?

Thanks, appreciate the pictures.  I'm going to try to avoid pulling the engine,   It looks like I'm clear of everything except the pinch-weld portion of the K-Member that the pan is setting on when I lower the engine..  I'm going to start by cutting out a notch I can do with the engine in the car.  If at that time I am concerned about the clearance between the front of the pan on the right corner I'll modify the engine mounts per TTI.  I don't at this point think I need to go far enough into the K-Member to do major modifications.  Thanks Again

Dennis,

To the best of my knowledge K-frames were assembled in 4 different plants resulting in small variations. On my '63 Fury when using the Milodon 935 8qt. pan there was a clearance issue at the right front, photo will show contact point. To correct this a notch was cut for the clearance then 3 1/8" gusset plates were welded to the inside frame for strength. Fit, strength and finish came out well. Don't forget if you are using TTI headers to modify the engine mount brackets allowing the engine to move back up to 1/4". This may alone give you clearance with the variations in K-frames. Hope this helps.

I have a Milodon pan on my 318 Poly and it does not clear the K-Member on the passenger side.  Is there any issues with shimming the motor mounts on both sides by about 3/8" or should I notch the K-Member?

Thanks
