Ron:

     Before you spend the money for another 17 gallon tank, you should 
investigate having your old one reconditioned at Tank Renu.   They might be able to 
take the dent out or otherwise repair it.   Also, they will put a new liner 
inside and paint the outside with a black waterproof material which you can 
paint.

      I did this and painted mine silver.  It looks like NOS.
