The frame set up for the motor mounts for your 6 and the V8's (301-318 Poly early A engines) are not the same. If you want to change from a 6 to a V8 you will have to change the frame supports where the moter mounts attach the engine to the frame. Also the motor mounts for the 6 are different than for the V8s. If you have a service manual for the 57 or 58 Plymouth in the section dealing with the frames you can see the difference.
