convert generator to alternator....help

I have a '57 Plymouth and I want to convert from the old generator and regulator to an alternator. The CD player is just draining the battery too quickly. Can someone tell me what alternator to use and how to wire it? It can't be that difficult. I am on a 12v system now. Please advise! Thanks!
