Yeah...why is it these early Hemis are so expensive..???

I mean...I remember at one time these things weren't worthy of a boat anchor. I did some price quoting last night, and one guy quoted 8 to 9,000 dollars for a "descent" engine... To say the truth, this is more than my usual budget for the entire car. I assumed the parts would be more for the hemi, but not THAT much more. What gives...??? Mopar made tons of these things.
