Yeah, this whole mess sounds sticky. My old Direct Connection manuals claim all A & LA bellhousing bolt patterns are the same, but they don't mention the dowel pins or if off center dowels can be used. But it would be interesting to find out. I have a friend who is goingh to be pulling a '77 318 out of his trashed F-body car. I'll take my '59 bellhousing over there for a test fit. It may be a few weeks before he gets ready to pull it.
