A VERY common affliction......don't go with a used one. It will come apart either during removal, installation or operation. Trust me on this. It happened to me twice, even with gentle handling. The rubber insert simply rots after years of heat and chemicl exposure. If you can't find anybody to recondition yours, try getting a new one from Len Dawson in Washington state. I purchased a N.O.S. piece from him about ten years ago for my '59 Suburban. No more problems with the ring slipping off the hub.
